Conceptual, Schematic, & Design Development Plans
Working with clients and the project team, we strive to design spaces which exceed goals, meet budget expectations, and elevate the project as a whole. With project end-goals in mind, Carlile · Macy landscape architects begin all designs with an open yet informed creative process. Gathered information and client feedback are used to develop multiple, loose concepts that are later synthesized into a schematic design and then refined into a final plan through design development. This process allows for the design to grow and change, for innovation in the design and materials, and for accurate estimating.
Site, Landscape, & Irrigation Design
Carlile · Macy landscape architects are knowledgeable, skilled, and passionate designers. Our staff of creative site planners, water-efficient irrigators, inspired place makers, and sustainability advocates includes Bay Area Friendly Landscape Professionals, LEED Accredited Professionals, and both current and former advisory committee and board members. Our thorough understanding of ordinances and codes means we design for compliance from the beginning, saving valuable time and budget in later project stages. With careful consideration for the environmental context of a project as well as the end user, we strive to develop innovative, context-appropriate, and collaborative landscape solutions that are beautiful, thriving, and memorable. Working closely with the rest of the design team we prepare complete, concise, and well-coordinated bid and construction documents that are buildable and cost effective. Regardless of the project scale or service scope, our goal is to deliver outstanding projects which endure.
Bid Assistance & Construction Administration
Carlile · Macy landscape architects, civil engineers, and land surveyors bring years of experience ranging from full construction management duties to on-call support services including RFI response, shop drawing and submittal review, and site observation. Our office’s central location in the North Bay and familiarity with area contractors and materials suppliers benefits projects by allowing for quick access to project sites, in-field direction, and coordination as needed to keep projects moving forward and staying within budget. The ability to perform construction services such as review of plant materials before they’re installed, in-person approval of hardscape samples, or guidance on construction questions to contractors means fewer delays, installation that honor design intent, and ultimately a higher quality finished project.
Carlile · Macy’s commitment to quality and well-communicated deliverables is evident in our graphics. Throughout design, from concept to construction documents, we prepare clear, compelling exhibits, illustrative plans, 3D models, sections, details, and other imagery to convey our designs. These graphics are used in various ways, from design review packages to marketing efforts.
