A Place to Play

This 82-acre sports field complex in Santa Rosa is constructed on a reclaimed water storage pond site owned by the City of Santa Rosa. Carlile Macy, along with the local sports associations, took the lead in promoting the reuse of the site for recreation and guided the City in the planning of the site as well as assisting a fund-raising effort for development funds. Our landscape architecture staff designed the master plan for the park and led the City through the approval process. This park is a model for effective reuse and recycling of water. In addition, reclaimed water is stored in a reconfigured and redesigned lake that is used for irrigation for the sports fields as well as wildlife habitat.

The park master plan features these elements:

  • Tournament quality soccer and baseball fields
  • Basketball courts
  • Sand Volleyball, bocce ball
  • Skateboard park
  • Horseshoe pits and shuffleboard
  • Play equipment and picnic areas
  • Reclaimed water pond serves as wildlife habitat and irrigation supply
