La FÉnix at 1950

La Fenix at 1950

La Fénix is a 9-story mixed-use residential complex for low-income families (including formerly homeless families) with retail development at 1950 Mission Street in San Francisco. Mission Housing and BRIDGE Housing, along with David Baker Architects, worked together to develop the 36,398 square foot parcel situated in the heart of the dynamic Mission district. Bounded by existing buildings to the north and south and by Mission Street and Wiese Street to the east and west, the project provided 157 affordable housing apartments, commercial space, and a large courtyard. Carlile Macy was responsible for designing the site improvements, including storm drain, sewer, and water. Permitting included SFPUC, SFMTA, SFDPW, and SFDBI. The design included conforming to existing streets along the building frontages while maintaining ADA accessibility.
