A Place to Play, Sports Fields and Park

A Place to Play is an 82-acre community recreation and sports field complex developed in northwestern Santa Rosa along a portion of Santa Rosa Creek previously occupied by reclaimed water storage ponds. The complex includes a large lake, tournament quality youth soccer and baseball fields, basketball courts, sand volleyball and bocce ball, a skateboard park, horseshoe pits and shuffleboard. Carlile • Macy provided all design services including preliminary master planning, entitlement processing, and coordination with the neighborhood. They prepared construction improvement documents and construction administration and layout for Phase 1 and Phase 1A for civil engineering, land surveying, and landscape architecture. The lake design by Carlile • Macy serves a dual purpose of providing a bird sanctuary as well as treated wastewater storage used as irrigation for the fields.
