Hoag House, Historic & Cultural Resource Preservation
The Hoag House is Santa Rosa's oldest wood-frame structure, built in 1856, and is a designated landmark. This project will salvage, relocate and reconstruct the historic Hoag House in the Prince Gateway Park in Santa Rosa. The project includes a separate restroom and storage building, interpretive exhibits, lighting, benches and picnic tables for visitor enjoyment. The Hoag House site will be surrounded by landscaping honoring a 1850's residential garden, including roses cultivated from the original Hoag House garden. Carlile • Macy provided landscape and site design development, community outreach, and construction documents. The project has been approved by the Cultural Heritage Board and Design Review Board. Design features include preservation and stabilization of a significant historic resource, development of interpretive and educational exhibits, connection to a bike and pedestrian creek trail system linking the downtown core to historic Railroad Square, neighborhood-scale park amenities and a demonstration garden.
